“Not all privacy is created equal”, says the title of the website of the Sirin Labs, a Switzerland based telecom company. Its promise is to deliver a phone that secures your data and your actions, from ever being leaked out in this infamous world of technological oversight. However scary it may sound, it does not make it any less true. This world has become a technological frenzy, where tons of data flows around, up in the air for grabs. Some of this data is misused, while the rest of it, as being told to us is used to protect our ‘own’ interests.

Although Android based, which is a familiar sight, the Solarin phone is loaded with continuously running algorithms, encrypting the phone with end-to-end 256-bit encryption. This secures the actions you take on your phone by distracting any prying eyes. This literally means that no one would be able to trace the conversation between you and the person you talk to.

It’s not all geekish or spy-fy either, depending on your point of perception. You like the charms of the self-appreciation? Apart from the large 5.5”, 2560 X 1440 pixel - 538 pixel-per-inch IPS display, it has a wide-angle 8-megapixel front camera. The Camera has a 75-degree diagonal viewing angle and a large aperture of f/2.4, which is enough to fade out those privacy-controlled backdrops. It has a front led flash too, to light up your face in the dark or give you beauty spots while taking a perfect selfie. On the front camera itself, it has the electronic stabilization (OIS), for both the photo and the video. And of course, you can do video calling in full HD at 60 fps.

The main camera has a mega 24-megapixel laser-focused sensor, with an aperture of f/2.0 and is accompanied by a four-tone flash for realistic colour visualization. It has many other regular knickknacks including OIS and geo-tagging. The camera can record 4k video at 30 fps, FHD at 60 fps and slow motion HD at 120 fps.

The phone supports all bands up to 4g LTE and has maximum antennae for best possible reception. The battery is massive at 4040mah li-ion, and the company claims it to have a talk time of up to 31 hours, to be quickly charged by Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ 2.0

The phone that comes in four design variants, with the gold and leather one costing upwards of US$17,000 without taxes, includes a top class Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 810 Octa-core 2GHz 64bit processor, Adreno 430 GPU, healthy 4GB of low powered RAM and a mega first in class 128GB built-in storage. Although some of its models start from appx. $14,000, but the gold definitely has its charm, especially to those who don’t mind a little of bling and of course can afford it.

Since most of us won’t be even able to afford to look at the price tag, we can still be relieved to see that the technology to protect our private interests exists, and we might be able to afford it some day.
