Anushree Reddy presented unconventional fashion aesthetics at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018
Mumbai, 25th August 2018: Enthralling the audience with her stunning fashion offerings and high-octane creativity, Anushree Reddy presented a melodious symphony of ensembles at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018.
With “Sitara” as her muse, just like a girl with the bright sparkling eyes and twinkle in her toes, each silhouette was a vision of beauty with hints of feminine tenderness induced effortlessly in terms of style and appeal.
The sublime combination of romanticism and femininity of “Sitara” mesmerizingly came together to form a visual extravaganza. With elaborate techniques, sensual colours and decadent drapes, the collection celebrated raw sensuality with a delicate explosion of handcrafted and three-dimensional appliqué work.
Taking her embellishments game to the next level, leaving the spectators with wedding dressing goals, she used 3D fleur, butterflies, leaves and fictional characters as appliqués to create eccentric designs.
The mermaid silhouette along with multiple layering made the collection absolutely stunning. The element of ruffles was seen throughout, while the dhoti styled pants, teamed with bold embellished embroidery had a striking visual appeal. Experiments with the cholis, included a range of backless and haltered versions that created an eloquent expression.
Highlighting the bit of her penchant for the whimsical in embroidery, each silhouette was a suspense mystery and totally unconventional. With a treasure trove of designs, the bridal and festive line by the designer made sure to showcase the perfect combination of style, elegance, energy, enthusiasm and glamour.
The grandeur of the ensembles was heightened by the tone-on- tone thread work, highlighted with delicate hand dyed beads to create masterfully rendered silhouettes. Re-imagining each outfit with a kaleidoscope of designs, the silhouettes were fused with soft sheer fabrics that added a flavour to Anushree’s fashion concoction.
The pale baby pink lehengas with silver work and matching cholis with frothy tulle dupattas were a dream to behold; while the very sophisticated, elegant, ash-grey, lehenga styled with a corset bustier and heavily embellished dupatta would be the best bet for the swinging Sangeet nights.
For a show stopping entry was gorgeous Bollywood diva Malaika Arora in a lemon/green scalloped-edged, ornate lehenga worn with a deep ‘V’ neck blouse and ruffled dupatta which was a definite trend-setter.
Anushree Reddy’s “Sitara” inspired collection with its enchanting creativity set the look for the coming season with its mystical yet dramatic appeal. For women who want to make a striking fashion statement, this collection is the one to look out for.
SVA by Sonam and Paras Modi created a fashion fantasy at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018
With a collection that was an ode to richness and glory, SVA by Sonam and Paras Modi wooed the audience with a range of ensembles that defined mystique glam for men and women at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018. The “Merlot” collection had all the intoxicating fashion flavour that will take the wearer on a new stylish high.
Besides being spectacularly innovative and high on the glamour quotient, the main highlight of the duo’s designs was the tousled medley of fluidity, blended mesmerizingly with a glittering mélange of motifs. With creativity being the central theme, there was a range of immaculately tailored silhouettes that were softly, divine yet dignified.
Ensuring that their creations were inventive and commercial, fabrics like silks and georgettes were used to evoke an opulent essence. The line boasted an array of hues such as burgundy, beige, maroon and black that created a couture look, which stood out for its palette. The contemporary cuts, embellished jackets, peplum blouses, to loose embroidered kurtas, the duo presented a versatile range of silhouettes.
Enchanting the audience with their design aesthetics that were every bit wearable, SVA’s innovative and high on glamour quotient was the fusion of shimmering mixed metals with delicate ombré, as opposed to the strong hues that caused a metallic, extravagant, sensation on the ramp.
With contours of extremism in their design aesthetics, the ensembles brought out the best of both worlds. The exquisite use of the suave drapes and structured pleats were translated onto statement jackets, lehengas and organza shirts that made each silhouette look effortlessly striking. It was a mastery play in marrying progressive aesthetics with a cascading display of luxury.
Looking great on the runway was the cropped blouse, striped skirt and poncho style jacket. One of the highlights of the collection was an artsy, asymmetrical, organza lehenga with a pleated, ruffled, blouse, which added a touch of pizzazz.
Men’s wear was stylishly elegant with just the right touches when it came to embellishments for the Sherwanis, bundgala jackets and bundies. The beige, ombré, pleated sherwani stood out among all the other silhouettes.
For a show stopping, head turning entry, gorgeous Bollywood actor Nushrat Bharucha glided in a black, embellished jacket with cascading detail, teamed with embroidered pants.
Whether it’s evening wear or cocktail dressing SVA’s “Merlot” collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018 was a two stop guide for men and women who want to make a sensational appearance and are daring and bold enough to carry strong, crafted, ensembles.

Classy separates came in the form of kurtas, dupattas and churidars to create the perfect wardrobe for the festivities. The creation of bows was a staple in the entire collection. To match the fun filled element of the show, Yogesh created a line of hand painted chokers, beautiful, long, retro, chains, twinkling bracelets and borlas all dreamt up with coloured beads and stones.
The show had an unconventional set up as models entered casually, mingled with each other around the room laughing and playing like best friends that gave the show a communal festive vibe.
Opening the show was an orange cropped top with colourfully designed sleeves and the brand’s name ‘Surendri’ embossed across the front in a metallic Devanagri script. The pretty pink ghagra was the perfect accompaniment that set the tone for the rest of the show.
Looking totally festive was the floral printed off-shouldered maxi in gorgeous colours. The gorgeous, bright, orange hue was seen for an organza jacket with belt detailing, a sequinned bustier and finished with hand embellished Sharara pants. A stunning rexine mini pinafore splashed with red zari work looked quite perky when teamed with a crimson organza shirt with a massive bow.
Stealing the show was the multi-coloured, digitally printed, hand embroidered lehenga and sexy silver rexine wrap blouse.

From extravagant silhouettes to exotic embellishments, Payal Singhal’s collection was seamlessly brought to life by Lakmé Salon’s contemporary and glamorous makeup and hairdos which were inspired by the medieval and late medieval period.

I always aim to give a contemporary twist to traditional looks and hence Lakmé Salon was the perfect fit to complete my looks”, said Payal Singhal.
Pushkaraj Shenai, CEO, Lakmé Lever, ‘Our focus this season was to recreate iconic looks from rich beauty traditions that are adaptable for brides of today and there is no one better than Payal who could create an ethnic yet chic look. To complement the collection, Lakmé Salon focused on reinventing the make-up and hair look by reinventing the royal Indian bride. This collection of bridal looks will be available at nearly 400 Lakmé Salons in 100+ towns across the country” With statement looks like Ombré lips and spotlight eyes, the look was created with glitter to ensure celestial aesthetics. Lakmé Salon envisioned to showcase an upscale make-up trend for today’s modern age bride with gold to accentuate the inner radiance.
Heena Dalvi, National Creative Director at Lakmé Salon shared, “Giving the royal Indian bride a contemporary makeover, the theme of the show this season was to reinvent ancient Indian hair styles and makeup. The Show Stopping Bride hairstyles were inspired from medieval eras like the Harappan, Mughal and Satavahana period. Lakmé Salon incorporated soft yet intricate-detailing techniques like the low buns, loose knots, Harappan braids, bouffant and top knots that only added to the bride’s elegant and stylish looks. While these were inspired from traditional concepts we have created hair and makeup looks that appeal to the uber urban bride of today.” The collection on the ramp was an ode to rich beauty traditions of past and today’s modern bride.
Inspired by the Show Stopping Bridal hairstyles created by the Lakmé Salon experts, Payal Singhal’s collection called “Mu’asir” was an ode to the modern bride.
“Mu’asir” meant modern or contemporary in Persian, so the line of glamorous bridal creations had every characteristic touch that Payal is known for. Her experiments with crafts from around the world and in India, both from the past and present have given the Payal Singhal Bride one of the most unique and exciting options.
The “Mu’asir” collection derived its inspiration from folk art tapestry, one of the oldest handmade techniques in the world that went through the Renaissance era, Europe and finally with Persian influences.
The technique that had the art forms of Turkish Kilim, the Persian Tabriz, Medieval Mille-Fleur and the Swedish Flamskväv was an intricate pattern story. The flat weaving loose fringes, pastel and bright colours, with bold patterns gave the designs its amazing qualities.
For Payal’s collection the Mille-Fleur meaning thousand flowers, Turkish geometric Kilim shapes, the irregular floral pattern of Scandinavian rugs and decorated Persian rugs in a vibrant Tabriz floral tree, medallion motifs; were great intelligent inspirations.
Payal has always brought the beautiful East and West in perfect harmony for her collections, so the long list of hues started with neutral grey, ivory and pastels like rose blush, mint, sage, cantaloupe, powder blue, bright yellow, coral and pink. Adding more flavour to the colour card there was emerald green, navy and deep purple to complete the list.
When it comes to silhouettes, Payal is an experimental, adventurous, designer who presents some off-the-beaten-track structures. Here the designer ensured that it was the New Age looks for the shararas, concept sari dhotis and layered jackets. To give the perfect imagery to the collection, the fabrics that flowed on the ramp were luxurious silks, georgettes and organzas that created a rich tapestry of textiles for the wedding trousseau.
Tiny cholis with multi-coloured embroidered lehengas swirled down the catwalk. Tiered shararas, ruffled-edged net saris with bias cut blouses, sleek slim kaftan, cowl cape and the Payal Singhal staple - the low crotch pants with attached dupattas - was very much there. The prestitched sari, panelled embroidered lehenga with scalloped hem, pencil skirt with bralette, ‘V’ neckline gown, long-sleeved tiered crêpe blouson dress and the jumpsuit with cape sleeves; proved that Payal had a great variety for the bridal wardrobe. Some more eye-catchers were the gold tasselled top, off-shouldered blouse and the sheer cape for the drop crotch pant that offered multiple choices.
When it came to the perfect showstoppers, it was the gorgeous mother-to-be Neha Dhupia in a fully embroidered, empire line kurti and lehenga, accompanied of course by husband Angad Bedi in a matching embroidered button less sherwani, pale green kurta and churidars, who happily strolled down the ramp.
‘The Show Stopping Bride” collection called “Mu’asir” from Payal Singhal presented by Lakmé Salon was a line that merged the beauty and traditions of the past with the spritely energy and gay abundance of the present. It was a collection that was a classic fashion symphony of Eastern ethnos and Western styles that came together melodiously, for the bride who wants the ultimate sartorial wardrobe presentation on the most important day in her life.
