Cat-eye disasters happen to all of us. No matter how pro we are at them, we tend to mess it up sometimes. Despite of trying so many tricks and hacks, it turns out to be a big fat tail. Normally we take the frustration out on these malfunctions but another fashion trend has taken over that will make our routines faster and easier and we all just can’t wait to try it. Top notch celebrities, Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid are rocking a new make-up called ‘thumbprint eyeliner’ into the latest fashion mania.

Mastering this look doesn’t require a liquid eye liner and half used makeup remover wipes. And the best part about this look? The messier, the better.
How to put it on?
The thumbprint eyeliner doesn’t mean rubbing your thumb over a liner pencil and just smudging it onto your face, but it is pretty close. The defining attribute of this trend is the rounded full body shape the liner takes at the corner of your eye line. This is a much easier version of the cat eye to try because let’s face it, creating that flick can be challenging. The line ends in a so imperfect curve that looks like your thumbprint. The plus point to this style is that is totally okay for the eyes to be not be identical, in fact encouraged.

Selena Gomez took the whole world into frenzy when she was seen sporting the thumbprint eyeliner on Hunh Vanngo’s Instagram account. The makeup artist put up a video of the celebrity on his timeline where she is slaying the sparkling gold glitter eye makeup and brick red lipstick. Her look is not only dynamic but also natural-perfect for any occasion, including work or school.

This isn’t the first time the look was put out for the world to see. Lady Gaga took rock ‘n roll make up to the next level with the Merlot eye look at the Grammy Awards 2017. She went on with the thumbprint eyeliner look with black kohl on her water line. Her fine wine wing shapes were completely mismatched, yet they gave out a bold fashion statement.

The look worn by the models Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid and Joan Smalls, offers a dangerous and valiant aura. It doesn’t have the perfect lines or curves. It looks like someone place their finger in black ink and placed their print just above their eyes.

To get the above look just grab a dense rounded eye brush and pick a deep smokey shade. Wet your brush, and then start slow, adding more pigment until you have the thumbprint shape you are looking for.
The entire trend is low maintenance and less time consuming. The only way to make it look perfect is by making sure that it’s imperfect. You can add this trend to this season with absolute ease.
