Ananya Birla Creates India’s First Vertical Video For Her Fifth Single ‘Better’

Mumbai, February 2019: With a debut EP in the pipeline, the first Indian musician to be certified platinum in the English music category, Ananya Birla has released India’s first vertical music video for her fifth single ‘Better’. Having four back-to-back platinum selling singles ‘Meant To Be’, ‘Hold On’ , ‘Circles’ and ‘Livin The Life’, and having garnered 125 million plus streams, ‘Better’ has been the young musician’s fastest climb to the gold category. The chartbuster with its’ techno-inspired synths blended with layered electro-pop beats brings to the fore her velvety rich voice and bass pumping lyrics. The track is produced by Anders Frøen a.k.a. Mood Melodies.

Sharing his excitement Devraj Sanyal, Managing Director and CEO, Universal Music Group, India & South Asia states, “With consumer viewing habits changing rapidly, there is a constant need for music content to evolve. Recent trends have shown an uptake in videos that have convenient orientation and can be consumed easily on vertical screens. As creatures of adaption, we have curated Ananya Birla’s fifth single, “Better” in the vertical masterpiece format for greater viewing impact and a personalized browsing experience.

Breaking the clutter with Ananya Birla, who has innovatively carved a niche of her own, UMG intends to keep artists connected with their fans and make the music space even more close knit with the ones who love it. Ananya’s immense dedication to her craft, hard work and talent show through in every aspect of the video. This one is specially for Ananya’s massive fan base.”

Adding on, Ananya states, “ ‘Better’ is a song I wrote to bring in a sense of positivity, aspiration and hope at the start of a new year. The storyline revolves around how you should be surrounded by people who want to make you the best version of yourselves and how you should keep those people even closer. 2018 was a sort of a catharsis for me and I realised you can rise only when you are given an impetus by a genuine circle who look out for you unconditionally. I’m really excited to have the support of both Universal Music India and Island Records UK.”

‘Better’ was released worldwide on UMG with the support of the iconic label Island Records. The official music video will simultaneously premiere on Ananya’s VEVO / YouTube channel.
